My First Experience using Groupon Getaway

March last year, before I decided to join Executive Master in Business Administration (EMBA) class, I have plan to take a short vacation with my husband. It's looks like honeymoon vacation before class started! Where to go? What's the budget? Where to stay? How to go? All this question comes into my mind!

As usual, I will be the vacation planner and suggest a few places to my husband. I got suggestions from my friends and family members as well. I also do a survey on the interesting place in Malaysia through blogs, Groupon Getaways and Agoda.com. 

Luckily there is a promotion package to go Langkawi. I found it through Groupon Getaway. I discuss with my husband and we have decided to go there. Since there was school holidays, my mother in-law and brother in-law have decided to join us and therefore, our vacation become a family trip. So interesting! I start to buy groupon, read the terms and conditions, and follow the instruction given. This is my first time using Groupon Getaways!

SaveME 999 : Application for Disabled Person

Have you ever heard about SaveME 999? No? Ok, I will brief you about it so that you have something clear in your mind.

Nowadays, most of Malaysian citizens have their own handphone with different type of brands in the market. Handphone become the most important device for everyone to communicate, socialize and interact with their families, friends and colleagues.

According to Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek (2013), disabled people with a smartphone in this country could now receive emergency service through the free ‘SaveME 999’ application. The government spent almost RM1 billion to develop a comprehensive system as an alternative mechanism for the disabled to contact the Response Centre-Malaysian Emergency Response Service (PPK MERS)999 for emergency assistance.

Through the free smart application, information like the location of a disabled needing emergency assistance could be channelled to the five main agencies involved — Royal Malaysian Police, Fire and Rescue Department, Health Ministry, Civil Defence Department and Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency — simultaneously to facilitate immediate action. The emergency service would especially be a boon for disabled persons with hearing and speech impairment.

As at September 2013, nine states have been equipped with the MERS 999 system, and extension of the system to the five other states, namely Perlis, Kedah, Perak, Kelantan and Terengganu will be done in future. This system will also be extended to the general public in June 2014, as it will helps the people to directly contact to PPK MERS 999.

My Experience Deal with Photobook

Back in December last year, I bought a photobook deal from Groupon offered by Photobook Malaysia. And it was free. I did not have to pay anything. ZERO! The only cost I have to bear was the postage. Overall, I will say IT'S AWESOME.

Since it was due in last May, I only had chance to do the design one month before its expiry date. The first thing that I have to do was to convert the voucher to get the unique codes from Photobook Malaysia. It was done by sending the groupon voucher to PHOTOBOOK to get the voucher codes.

Once I got the voucher codes, I have to download the photobook's software to start designing my photobook. Since it was free, there is no free template available for this type of photobook. I have to design it all by myself. This was the most challenging part. It is 40 pages photobook!

I have to Create New Project for the first time, renamed it and saved it. Just click Open an Existing Project to continue designing whenever I want. There are few choices of page styles, masks, backgrounds, frames, and scrapbooks that I can choose. And it was easy! Just clicked, dragged and saved. DONE!
